about VayaScent

Hi, my name is Sandi, it's nice to meet you. I'm the creator and owner of VayaScent Candles. I’ve been in love with candles my entire life. I adore fragrances, and the creative processes used to bring them to life in a candle. Not just the scents though - I also love the process of getting unique labels developed and thinking up fun names, often with the help of friends. We use alliteration, humor, and plain old joyful expressions of life.

Many of my candles are inspired by my own experiences of growing up, but just as many are influenced by my current surroundings. I’ve been calling Truckee - a small mountain town just north of Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada - home for over five years. I live and recreate here all year around; I especially enjoy hiking and rowing my boat in the summer, and skiing of every kind in the winter. The sights, smells, and colors are intimately ingrained in my mind from all the exploring I've done since moving here.

Immediately upon walking out the back of my house, I’m surrounded by those Sierra colors. The deep green of the trees, the various shades of granite, the intensely blue sky and teal waters of the Alpine lakes, the rust-colored pine needles on the trails, and the golden hues of stunning sunsets. These colors have come to define not only my daily life, but my brand itself. I love seeing how they are reflected in my custom-designed labels, part and parcel of the entire candle experience.
